"15th TGE Symposium held in Shanghai on June 25th and contract signature with Taizhou Wuzhou Shipyard"

29 Jun 2010

On June 25th TGE Marine Gas Engineering together with TGE Gas Engineering held its annual Symposium in Shanghai. The event attracted more than 150 participants from across the industry.

All major shipyards from China, like Jiangnan Shipyard, Hudong/Zhonghua, Rongsheng, Sinopacific, Dalian, Dingheng and Taizhou Wuzhou as well as from Korea, namely Hyundai, DSME, Samsung, STX ,Sekwang and SPP sent representatives in order to hear about new technologies and developments in the gas carrier market. Furthermore several shipowners and pool operators from GASCHEM, Unigas and Anthony Veder Group made the long journey to China to participate in this hugely successful event.

TGE Marine’s presentations focussed on new logistical systems for small scale LNG distribution and LNG fuel gas systems, an area in which TGE has developed new concepts and filed several patent applications. An analytical market forecast particularly for the small to midsize gas carrier segment completed the day’s programme. As a special addition, TGE arranged a visit to the EXPO 2010 – certainly a unique attraction.

TGE is further pleased to announce that on the day prior to the Symposium, contracts for the gas plant supply for two ship sets of 3,500 cbm capacity were signed with Taizhou Wuzhou Shipyard. They will be delivered to Indonesian owner Pertamina.

Manfred Küver, TGE’s CEO, commented: “We are extremely pleased with the high turnout of shipowners and representatives from a wide range of shipyards. The lively discussions during the Symposium are proof that we found the right mixture of presentations. The contract signatures for the supply of two gas plants are further strengthening our market position in China. We are still operating in a challenging environment but the market is showing noticeable signs of improvement.”
