Successful completion of three gas carrier projects in July 2008
26 Aug 2008
In July 2008 there were again busy days for TGE engineers since three (3) gas carriers have been delivered from the building yards and subsequently gas trials have been supervised by TGE in Europe and Asia within a period of two weeks:
The 17,000 cbm Ethylene carrier “CLIPPER HERMES” has been completed in time at the German MEYER YARD. She is already the third of a series of four gas carriers for the Norwegian Shipowner Solvang ASA.
The gas trial was carried out at Rafnes in Norway, where the gas plant performance has been tested successfully with Ethylene cargo.
“MARIANNA KOSAN” gas trial took place at Ulsan in Korea. The 8,000 cbm LEG/LPG Carrier is no. 6 of total ten ships which have been ordered by Lauritzen-Kosan at Sekwang Heavy Industries in Ulsan, Korea. TGE has delivered the entire gas handling system including cargo tanks as well as the ship design. “MARIANNA KOSAN” is a sister vessel of the “ISABELLA KOSAN”, which has recently won the prestigious Lloyd’s List ‘Ship of the Year’ Award 2008.
Additionally “GAS SUMBAWA” another 9,000 cbm Ethylene- carrier for Indonesian owner PT Berlian Laju Tanker (BLT) succeeded in performing a smooth Ethylene gas trial at Yeosu terminal, Korea. She is the second Ethylene gas carrier built for BLT at STX shipyard in Pusan, Korea, and has been delivered in advance to the contractual delivery date.
Due to excellent preparation of the gas handling system all machinery have been started at the first push of the button, which finally enabled owners to commence first commercial cargo trade within short notice.
