The 17,000 m³ Ethylene carrier “GASCHEM NORDSEE” has been completed in time at the German MEYER YARD. She is the first of a series of four gas carriers for the German Shipowner HARPAIN Reederei, a joint venture of HARPAIN SHIPPING and HANSA HAMBURG SHIPPING INTERNATIONAL.
The ship is 154.95 meters long, 22.70 meters wide, has a cargo capacity of 17,000 m³, and is able to cruises at a speed of 17.7 knots.
She will be operated within the GASCHEM Pool. Crewing will be arranged by NSB (Niederelbe Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG) at Buxtehude.
The gas trial was carried out under supervision of TGE’s engineers at Rafnes in Norway, where the gas plant performance has been tested successfully with Ethylene cargo. Afterwards the ship started its first journey from Europe to the Far East.
Thanks to the high quality of gas plant equipment and the excellent system installation / pre-commissioning work, which were supervised by TGE engineers at the building yard, the final acceptance of the gas plant was achieved without any pending item left.
