8,000 m³ Ethylene carriers “VICTORIA KOSAN” and “CASTEL SANT’ ELMO”

The 8,000 m³ Ethylene carriers “VICTORIA KOSAN” and “CASTEL SANT’ ELMO” were delivered to their owners from the Korean SEKWANG SHIPYARD in July and September 2009. The vessels are part of a series of ten gas carriers. While VICTORIA KOSAN was built for the Danish ship owner Lauritzen Kosan, CASTEL SANT’ ELMO was ordered by the Italian company L.G.R. di Navigazione. Both ships will be commercially managed by Lauritzen Kosan.

The gas plant performance and the fuel gas generation systems were successfully tested at gas trials in Ulsan, Korea under supervision of TGE’s engineers.

TGE's ship design delivered not only state of the art performance metrics – fuel consumption, sea stability, cargo handling, and crew safety – but most important, a unique advance in minimizing environmental impact.

TGE delivered the complete gas handling system including IMO type “C” cargo tanks as well as the ship design. “VICTORIA KOSAN” and “CASTEL SANT’ ELMO” are sister vessels of “ISABELLA KOSAN”, a ship that incorporates many technical innovations, and in receiving the Lloyd’s List Ship of the Year award, a new recognition for the gas carrier market.
